IT Services
IT Services offers comprehensive computer, telephone and audiovisual (AV) services to all students and staff at the University of 58勛圖. The IT service desk provides advice and assists with technical issues, which can be reported by emailing itservicedesk@st-andrews.ac.uk.
The unit maintains the University’s central IT infrastructure and aims to provide a contemporary and integrated technological environment, which sustains and strengthens the University's ability to deliver its strategic objectives, facilitating collaboration, world-class teaching and research, and efficient business processes.
We want to deliver an environment which will support students, researchers, and academics by providing an empowering platform and functionality for knowledge creation and exchange.
This includes:
- IT facilities such as staff desktops, classroom PCs, printing devices and teaching software
- Eduroam wifi, staff phones and mobiles, external network connections and data centres
- Corporate systems for Schools and Professional Services Units, such as the student record system
- Specialist advice and support for academic, administrative and research computing
IT Services is led by Steve Watt, Chief Information Officer (CIO), and has approximately 115 staff.
IT Services areas of focus are:
- Service Delivery: made up of the University's IT service desk, IT and AV support, AV architecture, campus card services, and business relationship management.
- Enterprise Applications and Development: provides in-house application development and integration services to support University projects.
- Infrastructure: manages, supports and develops the hardware and software infrastructure, including the University network.
- Academic Computing: manages, supports and develops facilities, applications and software required for teaching and research, including the High-Performance Computer.
- Data Services: governs, architects and engineers business data throughout the institution.
- CIO's Office: includes IT Strategy, Digital Communications, Security, Innovation, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources.
