ABC learning design workshop

This workshop is designed for academic staff involved in developing new modules or programmes, as well as those looking to refresh or redesign existing ones. It is suitable for anyone creating learning experiences at any academic level, whether delivered in person, online, or in blended formats.

About the Digital Education Team听

The Digital Education team supports the learning design and creation of online learning courses, including the University鈥檚 Digital PGT听Programmes, 58吃瓜 Online non-credit bearing short courses and credit-bearing micro-credentials. We take a collaborative approach to working with academic schools and units across the University to create accessible and engaging online learning experiences.听

About the Workshop听

This interactive workshop will guide you through designing the student journey through your module, with a strong focus on active learning and meaningful learning activities.听

听

You will:听

  • Describe your course in a way that resonates with prospective students听
  • Identify the types of learning activities best suited to your module听
  • Map out a detailed, ideal version of your module听

To get the most from the session, we encourage you to bring a specific module or course you would like to develop or redesign.听

We will be using digital tools during the workshop, so please bring a laptop or other internet?enabled device.听

Aims and objectives

After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:听

  • Produce a complete or near-complete outline for a specific module or course.听
  • Identify and apply the six ABC learning activity types to enhance interactivity in both online and in?person learning.听
  • Locate and access further support and resources to help them design engaging, student-centred听modules.听
