Abstract: I鈥檒l be sharing some of the work in progress on my dissertation, where I inquire about the relationship between understanding and responsible belief. Drawing on parallels from moral responsibility, I suggest that epistemic responsibility requires a certain minimal level of understanding of the reasons for a belief as a condition for properly accepting it. I鈥檒l sketch out an early conception of how I view this relationship between understanding and belief and offer a couple of arguments in its favor.
