Pain, Painfulness, and Evaluation In this talk, I survey the increasingly rich, contemporary debate about the nature of pain and its unpleasantness.聽 Along the way, I highlight some of the advantages of my evaluativist view, and, against the messenger-shooting objection, I argue that evaluativism can accommodate the non-instrumental badness of unpleasant pain.
