Proponents of hyperintensional accounts of property individuation are generally led to embrace these accounts because of certain phenomena surrounding concepts like meaning\, thought\, and knowledge. For example\, we can think about a triangle being triangular without thinking about a triangle being trilateral. But critics of these accounts continue to maintain that such motivations are only the result of representational differences\, as opposed to differences in a way that the world is\, or a way that the world could be. In effect\, these critics tell us\, hyperintensional differences between properties are not real differences. The aim of this paper is to present and then closely examine an argument—call it\, ‘the Modal-Separability Argument’—that seems to underlie the rejection of treating hyperintensional differences between properties as real differences. If we were to draw on the phenomenological tradition to ask this\, we might say instead: is perceptual experience situated? If so\, in what way? Embodied theories of perception might be good candidates to answer this question\, since they claim that the body and the environment make non-trivial contributions to cognition\, broadly construed. However\, many of these embodied views have omitted this aspect of embodiment\, namely its situated aspect\, i.e. the way perceptual experience is shaped by a body that is the concrete locus of our social\, historical\, economic and cultural situation. To articulate what it would mean for perception to be situated\, I will draw on Iris Marion Young’s (1980) view on the gendered situated body. I will\, then\, do two things. Firstly\, I will discuss whether perception is\, in fact\, situated in that sense. And\, secondly\, I will discuss whether the sensorimotor approach to perception should be concerned with that aspect of perception and how the view could address it. \n  \nIf you want to join this Zoom session\, please email at si24@. Experimental philosophy is the use of scientific techniques to collect data on human reactions to central examples in philosophy. One familiar project in conceptual engineering is to address the defects in our concept of truth that cause the liar and other paradoxes by replacing our concept of truth (for certain purposes) with one or more new concepts. I outline a systematic way of identifying potential replacement concepts by using techniques from artificial intelligence. And I introduce a program of experimental philosophy studies to help evaluate which of those potential replacement concepts would be best. The idea is to break down a set of about 50 principles involving truth into the minimal inconsistent subsets and maximal consistent subsets. Then use experimental philosophy to evaluate reactions to each principle. We can use these reactions to measure the plausibility of the replacements because each maximal consistent subset corresponds to a potential replacement concept. Together\, conceptual engineering and experimental philosophy can identify the most plausible or highest credence principles involved in a defective concept and measure the overall plausibility of each potential replacement concept by the plausibility of the principles built into it.
