Title<\/b>:\u00a0All\u2019s Well that Ends Well?<\/i><\/p>\n

Abstract<\/b>: Distinguish how well someone\u2019s life is going at a particular point — their\u00a0momentary<\/i>\u00a0well-being — from how well their life went as a whole, their\u00a0lifetime<\/i>\u00a0well-being. How are these related?<\/p>\n

The simplest answer is that lifetime well-being is just\u00a0aggregate<\/i>\u00a0momentary well-being. Theories that deny this are forms of\u00a0holism<\/i>\u00a0about lifetime well-being. Recent discussions of holism, inspired by David Velleman, have focused mainly on one particular species of it, the so-called\u00a0\u201cshape of a life\u201d hypothesis.
