I then look at alternative schemata for the notion of \u2018function\u2019 \u2013 ones derived from evolutionary theory \u2013 and argue that they are not preferable to their Aristotelian rival. I finish the paper by looking at \u2018neo-Aristotelian ethical naturalism\u2019, in particular that of Philippa Foot, and argue that it is not Aristotelian enough.<\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"black\"><\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"black\"><strong>Bio<\/strong>: Tom Angier is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Cape Town. He works on neo-Aristotelian ethical and political theory. He is currently completing a monograph entitled \u201cHuman Nature, Human Goods: A Theory of Natural Perfectionism\u201d.
