Next Wednesday, 5th February, CEPPA Film Club has decided to honour his memory with a screening of his classic\u00a0<b data-ogsc=\"\">&#8216;Blue Velvet&#8217;.<\/b><\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Trying to present the work of David Lynch, or even Lynch himself, is itself no easy task. A painter by formation, a filmmaker (in his words) by chance, who repeatedly credited his creativity to &#8220;meditating and drinking coffee&#8221;, Lynch is known for the oneiric and uncanny atmospheres of his films, which twist (and enrich) mundane reality with hidden meanings and subconscious motives.<\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\"><\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">&#8216;Blue Velvet\u2019 (1986) is the perfect representation of this vision: a young, highly conventional American college student (Kyle McLachlan), living in a seemingly perfect suburban neighbourhood, gets entangled with a woman (Isabella Rossellini) and a local gangster (Denis Hopper)\u00a0in an increasingly disturbing plot.<\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\"><\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\"><i data-ogsc=\"\"><u data-ogsc=\"\">Content warning<\/u>:<\/i>\u00a0includes explicit sexual and\/or otherwise shocking content (which caused the film to be rejected by about all the major production companies in the eighties, so seemed worth flagging this)<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are proud to present the Fifth Session of Film and Philosophy at CEPPA (aka the CEPPA Film Club).
