{"id":6071,"date":"2020-08-19T12:29:54","date_gmt":"2020-08-19T11:29:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/philevents\/event\/metaphysics-and-logic-seminar-tba-14\/"},"modified":"2020-12-14T17:47:43","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T17:47:43","slug":"metaphysics-and-logic-seminar-tba-14","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/philevents\/event\/metaphysics-and-logic-seminar-tba-14\/","title":{"rendered":"Metaphysics and Logic Seminar Maya Eddon Title: The Humean Objection to unHumean Laws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abstract: The denial of necessary connections between distinct existences is generally taken to be at the heart of Humanism, and any philosophical account that requires necessary connections is rejected on the grounds that it violates Hume\u2019s dictum. \u00a0In this paper, I focus on Armstrong\u2019s account of lawhood. \u00a0Lewis objects to Armstrong\u2019s account on Humean grounds \u2013 the account requires necessary connections of the sort the Humean renounces.
