Module description
This module is designed to introduce students to the complex and fascinating relations between culture and history within the context of post-Civil War Spain, providing them with an interdisciplinary knowledge of that period. In particular, it aims at exploring the value of film and poetry as modes of cultural resistance to dominant political and ideological discourses. In order to do so, we will be looking at the work of a number of key authors in the history of contemporary Spanish literature (such as Jos矇 Hierro, ngel Gonzalez, Gloria Fuertes, Jaime Gil de Biedma, and Jos矇 ngel Valente, amongst others) and cinema (typically, L. Garc穩a Berlanga, J. A. Bardem, B. Mart穩n Patino, V. Erice, C. Saura, etc).
