Module description

This module continues on from CN3001. Students will continue to acquire Chinese characters and build vocabulary while studying more complex literary and audiovisual texts and honing their spoken language skills.

Intended learning outcomes

  • By the end of this module students will be able to read and write c. 1500 character and over 4000 words.
  • Students will be able to clearly express and comprehend ideas and opinions whilst conversing on a a wider range of topics with appropriately employed idiomatic phrases.
  • Students will be able to read more sophisticated Chinese texts such as current and cultural affairs reportage, longer poems, and short stories, and novel extracts.
  • Students will be able to write structured, clearly argued essays and other forms of prose in an appropriate style.
