Module description

This module introduces students to feminist approaches to conflict and security. It presents gender as essential to understanding and evaluating patterns of violence, conflict and security. Recognizing the plurality of feminist theory and practice, it engages with a range of literature and addresses topics including armed conflict, international interventions, peace and security, and transitional justice. The module explores the many ways in which gender impacts not only individual experience, but also wider structures, processes, and ideas. It forwards an intersectional perspective and introduces students to feminist methodologies and feminist praxis. The module provides students with foundational knowledge and skills to pursue feminist research on topics related to conflict and security.
