Module description
Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice imparts experiential awareness of ‘for-profit’ business development and the mind-set involved in entrepreneurial behaviour. It introduces students to the scholarly literature on entrepreneurship and its recent advances. It provides insight into the nature of entrepreneurship by critically analysing the way entrepreneurial activity creates economic and social value. It imparts an understanding of individual entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship, and social entrepreneurship. Additionally, the module develops an understanding of entrepreneurship in practice and the processes of business development. Students will learn by completing a collaborative, self-directed, team project in which they identify an opportunity, then design and document a business model, critically reflecting on its strengths and weaknesses. They will then write a critical essay on one theme from the module in the context of their proposed business model.
