The With Music Performance designation is added to the degree transcript of students who have incorporated music performance into their undergraduate studies over successive years. To qualify, students must normally complete at least 40 credits of music modules at sub-Honours level and 30 credits at Honours level, including Making Music 3 and at least one of Making Music 1 or Making Music 2. In exceptional cases, Music Centre staff may exercise discretion where a student’s commitment to performance is clear. This award not only recognises sustained engagement with musical performance but also gives students the chance to develop the high-level skills associated with a range of future opportunities in music and beyond.
Under the discretionary route, eligibility is based on sustained, multi‑year engagement in structured Music Centre performance activities, at a level and intensity comparable to credit‑bearing Making Music modules. This may be evidenced through instrumental or vocal scholarships, participation in auditioned ensembles, substantial and recurring performance outputs, and achievement of a high performance standard as determined by Associate Teachers, Music Centre staff, and/or visiting professional musicians. Decisions made by the Music Centre and affiliated staff are final, and there is no route of appeal.
