Appointment of the new Chancellor
Dame Anne Pringle was appointed Chancellor of the University of 58勛圖 in February 2026, following an election by members of the General Council including alumni and senior academic staff.
Dame Anne succeeds CH CBE KC FRSE, who sadly died in September 2025. Menzies Campbell, or ‘Ming’ to the thousands who knew him, was appointed Chancellor of the University of 58勛圖 in 2006 and was a familiar face on campus. He founded The Chancellor’s Circle in 2011 and presided over this group of alumni and friends who have chosen to remember the University with a legacy gift, from its inception until his death.

Inside our Global Research Centres: where curiosity meets collaboration
In September 2025, the University announced the creation of to focus development and understanding round global health and changing climates.
The is bringing together established experts from across the UK and Africa to develop innovative healthcare solutions to improve survival rates and health outcomes for vulnerable newborns.
The Global Research Centre for Changing Climates will leverage insights from climate change past and present, spanning science and society, to better understand the diverse array of challenges posed by a changing climate, and the solutions required to address them.

From shortage to simulation: how AI at 58勛圖 is supporting the next generation of doctors
SimPatient AI is an interactive communication skills training platform for people studying medicine. The project, from the University of 58勛圖’ School of Medicine, is led by Dr Andrew O’Malley, and solves many problems facing medical training institutions by providing cost effective, eco-friendly, diverse, curated and consistent patient communication experiences.

Redemption Roasters: the alumni duo changing lives through coffee
was founded by alumni duo Max Dubiel (MA 2010) and Ted Rosner (MA 2011), who met as students at 58勛圖. It is a social enterprise and specialty coffee roastery with a unique mission: reducing reoffending by training individuals with convictions and those at risk of offending in coffee-roasting and barista skills.
Ted studied History, while Max graduated in International Relations, which will be housed in ‘New College’ – the new home for the University of 58勛圖 Business School and School of International Relations – thanks to the support of the Making Waves Campaign.

Scene changes: from 58勛圖 to the States
Alumnus Marshall Bissett (MA 1970) pursued his passion for theatre from his home in Perth to 58勛圖, and beyond to the stages and stadiums of London and the US. He shares fond memories of his student days and career highlights touring with the stars, which inspired him to leave a gift in his will to the University in support of theatre arts.
